The family of Barbara Jean Lougheed regret to report her passing in the early morning hours of July 19, 2012. Barbara had a brief struggle with pneumonia but passed peacefully. Barbara was born March 18, 1931 in Bruce, Wisconsin to Lulu and Donald Colquhoun along with her brothers Myron, Wayne and sister Helen. They moved to Montesano, Washington, where Barbara graduated high school and married Dennis K. Lougheed. They had 4 children, Denise, Deborah, Bruce, and Karen, 4 grandchildren, Aaron, Sarah, Kimberly, and Lauren, and 4 great
grandchildren, Braeden, Riley, William, and Jeremiah. Over the years the family lived in central Washington, Colorado, and many years in the Seattle area before settling onto Whidbey Island in 1979. During her years on Whidbey, Barbara selflessly gave countless hours of service to the Senior Center and the Senior Thrift store. Barbara held several jobs over the years, but she was a homemaker at heart and loved caring for family and others. Her greatest expertise was sewing and she passed this skill down to her children. Yes, even Bruce can sew. She could make anything that you could show her from a catalog and no one could ever tell.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Dennis, her children and their spouses, Denise and Jim Mathis, Deborah and Ron Winters, Bruce and Becky Lougheed, and Karen and Kurt Lougheed-Carlson, the grandchildren, the great grandchildren, and brother Wayne Calhoun.
A service will be held at the South Whidbey Senior Service Center on August 1st from 2 to 3:30 PM and in Montesano August 5th at Gepettos restaurant from 10 to 12 noon.
