Ada B. Lyon, age 92, of Oak Harbor, died at Ohana Villa Adult Family Home on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006.
Mrs. Lyon was born in St. John, WA, on Jan. 9, 1914, to John Cummins and Tilda (Peterson) Cummins. She was raised in the Spokane area. On April 17, 1955, she married Tige Lyon. She moved to Oak Harbor in 1986 to be near her daughter. Ada was a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington, the Moose Lodge of Spokane, the Senior Center of Oak Harbor, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO (AFSCME.)
Ada was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-eight years, Bud Blondell (Tige) Lyon; by a son, Joseph Ambrose, and by three brothers, Frank, Robert and Albert Cummins. She is survived by her children: Ruth Irene Gearheart and husband Stanley of Oak Harbor; Bob “Tuffy” Ambrose and wife Bonnie of Phoenix, AZ and step-son Vernon Ambrose and wife Mary Anne of Loon Lake, WA; also by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be Sat., Jan. 21, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the V.F.W. Hall on Goldie Road in Oak Harbor. A private family graveside service will take place at Spokane Memorial Gardens at a later date. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
