Woman arrested for assaulting husband

“Police say Starla Harris either got really mad at her husband and ran him down with her 1984 Suburban, or he was just in the way when she tried to leave.The 23-year-old North Whidbey woman turned herself in to the Island County Sheriff’s Office Friday after investigators put out an area-wide alert in an attempt to track her down.Harris was booked into the county jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and malicious mischief. She was arraigned in court Friday afternoon.According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Harris and her husband started fighting at their home on the 3200 block of State Street, which is just outside Oak Harbor, early Wednesday morning. Harris allegedly broke the headlights on her husband’s car out with a baseball bat.About a half hour later, investigators say the fight again escalated and a relative called 911. Deputies arrived within four minutes, but Harris had already left in her Suburban after knocking her husband to the ground. Police say he was standing next to another car when she hit him and the force of the impact dented both cars.The man was transported to Whidbey General Hospital. He was treated for abrasions and contusions, then released the same day.Deputies searched for Harris after she left the scene. They found her car abandoned near her home, but not her. They were concerned about her condition and safety because it was unclear if she was injured and how distraught she was. “
