Woman accused of threatening to post nude photos of witness

Oak Harbor faces charge for threatening to post naked photos of witness

An Oak Harbor woman is facing a charge for threatening to distribute naked photos of a witness in a South Whidbey drive-by shooting, allegedly to get the witness to change her story, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Ashlee N. Steen, 21, in Island County Superior Court Oct. 13 with witness tampering, a felony charge.

Oak Harbor resident Bryce Hill was charged Sept. 3 with drive-by shooting and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was accused of shooting up a house in Clinton Aug. 31 in retaliation for being ripped off in a drug deal, according to the police report on the case.

Hill pleaded not guilty to the charge at a hearing last month.

The main witness against Hill is a woman who allegedly drove him to the house. She was also charged in connection with the crime.

On Oct. 9, the woman reported to the sheriff’s office that Steen threatened to post nude photos of her on Facebook and “around town.”

In text messages, Steen repeatedly calls the woman a snitch, threatens to post the photos and tells her to “swerve,” which the investigator took to mean change her testimony, according to the report.

In a statement to police, Steen explained that the woman and Steen had a falling out over an unrelated issue. She said she called out the woman as a snitch but was really mad about other personal issues that had nothing to do with the case. She said she didn’t intend to interfere with the court case or intimidate a witness, court documents indicate.
