Winners of its last two matches, the Coupeville girls tennis team is ready for Northwest A play.

The Wolves most recently defeated 2A Blaine 4-1, Friday April 1.

Coupeville’s seniors easily handled a rebuilding-Borderites program. Even missing one of its top players, Kathryn Meyer, CHS cruised in all but number three singles where first-year player Chelsea Perron played hard, but came up short Kat Cogert 2-6, 2-6.

Playing number-one singles senior Taniel Lamb defeated Kate Kondratyuk 6-1,6-0. At number-two singles senior Julie Mottet beat Mary Velasco 6-3,6-4.

The Wolves were equally strong in doubles.

Mindy Horr teamed with Heather Fakkema to route Jennifer Kramer and Alyssa Hendrickson 6-1,6-0. The number-two doubles team of senior Heidi Lee and junior Sharlie Blouin had no trouble defeating Karyna Shapovalova and Kuma Johnston 6-3, 6-2.

Coupeville took all this week off for spring break, but starts right back up with a home match against Northwest A League rival Friday Harbor at 3 p.m., Monday, April 11. at Coupeville.
