Getting all of its goals in the first half, the Coupeville High School soccer team dominated from the outset to defeat host Orcas Island 4-0 Thursday, Sept. 18.

“We controlled the entire match, moving the ball with controlled precision and by playing Lady Wolves soccer,” coach Troy Cowan said. “The girls were able to maintain a high level of energy and stayed focused on our pregame goals.”

Mickey LeVine led the first-half charge with two goals and an assist.

“Not only did she provide us with leadership,” Cowan said, “but also filled up the stat sheet.”

Captain Erin Rosenkranz chipped in with a goal and assist, and freshman Mia Littlejohn added the fourth goal.

Freshman Sage Renninger recorded an assist and led the team with five shots.

Goalies Julia Myers and Mckenzie Meyer combined for the shutout.

“Ana Luvera continues to be solid and played the entire match, leading the team and winning the game ball and hustle award,” Cowan said.

“Bree Daigneault and Kirsten Pelroy gave solid performances off the bench and are making huge strides of improvement,” he added.

The early lead enabled Cowan to give “the hardest working bench players some well-deserved playing time.”

Coupeville (2-2) hosts Mount Vernon Christian (1-3) at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30.
