Wolves blanked by Overlake in tennis

The Coupeville tennis team suffered a 5-0 shutout at the hands of Overlake in Redmond Saturday, Sept. 29. Coupeville coach Ken Stange said the Owls won easily in all the matches except first singles where Coupeville's Nathan Lamb lost to Grant Gibson 8-6 in "hotly contested match." Gibson is one of the top players in his league, according to CHS coach Ken Stange.

The Coupeville tennis team suffered a 5-0 shutout at the hands of Overlake in Redmond Saturday, Sept. 29.

Coupeville coach Ken Stange said the Owls won easily in all the matches except first singles where Coupeville’s Nathan Lamb lost to Grant Gibson 8-6 in “hotly contested match.” Gibson is one of the top players in his league, according to CHS coach Ken Stange.

Aaron Curtin fell in second singles 8-6.

The Wolves struggled in all three doubles matches: 1, Jason Knoll/Ben Wehrman lost 1-8; 2, Brandon Kelley/Brian Norris lost 1-8; 3, Ben Etzell/Sebastian Davis lost 3-8.

Lamb and Curtin combined to win an exhibition doubles match 8-2. In another exhibition doubles match Etzell and Norris lost 3-8.

The Wolves (3-4) closed out the regular season at home at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, with Friday Harbor.
