The Oak Harbor High School track team collected 17 wins in the final dual meet of the season when Stanwood visited Wildcat Memorial Stadium Thursday, April 28.
The Oak Harbor boys earned 10 of those firsts and defeated the Spartans 92-53. The Stanwood girls topped Oak Harbor 88.5-60.5.
Wildcat Jared Gray won both hurdle events (110, 15.63; 300, 41.43) and joined forces to capture two relays. On the 4×100, Gray, Daniel Guerrero, Andrew Miller and Jordan Washington won in 45.68. The 4×400 team of Gray, Josh Cote, TJ Passmore and Josiah Welch clocked a 3:47.86.
Washington also won the high jump (5-10).
Other winners for the Wildcat boys were Mac Nuanez (400, 53.97), Ben Gasper (3,200, 10:34.41), Austin White (shot, 44-06), Joseph Noland (discus, 137-01) and Tanner Walker (javelin, 151).
Jenna Cooley helped the Oak Harbor girls sweep the three relays, and Alana Austin ran on two of the winning relays and finished first in the 200 (26.49).
Relay results: 4×200 (Austin, Cooley, Matti Miesle, Janae Payne), 1:50.55; 4×400 (Austin, Deja Bunch, Cooley, Megdaline Fink), 4:39.08; and 4×100 (Cooley, Miesle, Payne, Amaya Rittierodt), 52.49.
Also winning for the Oak Harbor girls were Alex Smith (3,200, 12:27.25), Kaitlyn Chelberg (100 hurdles, 16.57), and Claire Anderson (high jump, 4-10).
The Wildcats will now compete in three invitationals before beginning the postseason.
First is the Tomahawk Classic at Marysville-Pilchuck at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30. The Wildcats will host the North Sound Classic at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, and then go to the Stanwood Invitational at 4 p.m. Friday, May 5.
