Bellingham erupted for five runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out a wild 14-11 win over the host Oak Harbor High School baseball team Thursday, March 14.

The Raiders, down 10-9,  needed only one to tie heading into the seventh but linked together four consecutive hits to produce the five runs and the win.

Oak Harbor pushed across one run of its own in the bottom half of the inning but it wasn’t nearly enough to salvage the season-opener.

It was a game of rallies.

Oak Harbor rushed to an early lead with a four-run second inning. Bellingham countered with its own four-spot in the top of the third.

The Wildcats regained the lead with two in the bottom of the third, then Bellingham took its first lead with three in the fifth to make it 7-6.

Oak Harbor quickly responded with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth and went up 10-7.

The Raiders scored two in the sixth to set up the big seventh. In all, Bellingham (1-1) scored 10 runs over the final three innings.

Cory Cameron led Oak Harbor, which finished with 13 hits, by going 3-for-4 with two runs. Anthony Stewart added a hit, two stolen bases and three runs.

Austin Shenton slugged two doubles and drove in five runs for the Raiders. Oscar White had two hits, a double and three RBI.

Oak Harbor (0-1) hosts Sehome (1-1) in another nonleague game at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16.
