Using a three-pronged running attack, the Oak Harbor High School football team skewered Marysville Getchell 46-9 Friday, Oct. 9, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

Three different running backs rushed for more than 100 yards, and each scored two touchdowns. The biggest tine belonged to Princeton Lollar, who rushed for 260 yards on 20 carries.

Savion Passmore added 143 yards on 10 carries, and sophomore Mac Carr, starting for the first time while replacing an injured Dyllan Harris, ran for 120 yards on 11 carries.

In all, the Wildcats rushed for 575 yards on 53 runs, a 10.8 yard per carry average.

The Oak Harbor defense was as dominant as the Wildcat running game.

The Chargers finished with only 114 yards of offense. They ran for 54 yards (and 45 came on two carries) on 24 rushes, and freshman quarterback Caleb Koellmer completed eight of 26 passes for 60 yards and two interceptions. All of the Getchell points came off Wildcat turnovers.

The win evened Oak Harbor’s Wesco North record at 1-1, 2-2 overall. Getchell fell to 0-2, 1-4.

While the Wildcats played without Harris, a two-way all-Wesco player who is out with a concussion, the Chargers were missing Collin Montez, who led the conference in rushing last fall. The junior is recovering from an ankle injury.

Next Friday, Oak Harbor entertains Stanwood (0-2, 1-4) at 7 p.m. in the annual homecoming game.

The Wildcats and Lollar wasted little time getting its running game going against Getchell.

On the second play of the game, Lollar, a 235-pound jiunior, raced 55 yards to the Charger nine. Carr scored from the three, the PAT kick was wide and the ‘Cats led 6-0.

The Wildcats fumbled on their next possession, setting up a 33-yard field goal by Getchell’s Declan Sweatt.

It took Oak Harbor only two plays to respond. Passmore zoomed 82 yards to make it 12-3.

Oak Harbor lost another fumble, Getchell took over on the Wildcat 36 and eventually scored, trimming the gap to 12-9 with 7:31 left in the half.

The Chargers would earn only one more first down (on the first play of the fourth quarter) in the game.

The Wildcats went 67 yards (43 picked up by Lollar) in eight plays with Passmore covering the final 21 for a touchdown with 4:48 left in the second quarter. Spencer Champion kicked his first of four PATs in five tries, making it 19-9.

With just a minute remaining in the half, Carr scored from the five to finish an 82-yard drive, and Oak Harbor led 26-9 at the half.

Lollar bolted 50 yards for a score on Oak Harbor’s first play of the second half.

John Purcell set up the Wildcats’ next touchdown with an interception, returning a picked off middle screen to the Charger 18. Lollar scored from the 13, and it was 39-9.

Mac Nunez plowed in for a two-yard TD run with 3:38 left in the game to wrap up the scoring.

It was nice bounce-back game for Oak Harbor after its loss to Arlington the previous week and a “good springboard into homecoming,” coach Jay Turner said.
