WhidbeyHealth is accepting applications for hospital board

Interested candidates have until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31 to apply.

Applications are now being accepted for a soon-to-be open position on the WhidbeyHealth Board of Commissioners.

Last month, Grethe Cammermeyer announced her intention to resign from the board, effective Feb. 1.

Interested candidates have until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31 to apply to be considered for appointment to fill the vacancy. Applicants must submit a written letter of interest and a professional resume via email to Conor O’Brien at obrienc@whidbeyhealth.org with the subject line “Board of Commissioner application.”

Board members are considered to be “at large” positions, so people need not be from a certain geographic area on Whidbey Island to apply. Cammermeyer’s term is set to expire Dec. 31 of this year, so whoever replaces her will soon have to choose if they want to run for election this fall.

The hospital district’s board of commissioners usually meets twice every month. Commissioners are responsible for strategic direction and financial oversight of the district.
