“It’s just one small way I can show my deep appreciation to all hospital staff for the hard work they do every day,” Forbes said. “I’ve been so impressed with the physicians, nurses, support staff and volunteers since I arrived at Whidbey General. It’s an exceptional team and I want to do everything I can to show my gratitude to them, including pitching in at the grill.”

The council represents all hospital departments and was designed to promote camaraderie between employees.

The council is funded by donations from the employees and through various fundraisers.

In addition to the summer picnic, other annual events include a “Fling Dinner,” Christmas party and a Halloween pumpkin-carving contest.
