Wanted man sentenced for assault, resisting arrest

A Clinton man who assaulted a woman and teenage girl and wrestled deputies near an open septic tank was recently sentenced to jail.

Justin M. Jacobs, 19, pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court Jan. 7 to two counts of assault in the second degree, malicious mischief and resisting arrest. One of the assault charges was filed as a domestic-violence crime.

The judge sentenced him to nine months in jail.

After Jacobs was arrested in September, Chief Criminal Prosecutor Eric Ohme with the Island County Sheriff’s Office found that he was wanted in Texas for criminally negligent homicide, domestic battery in the second degree and false imprisonment.

This week, Ohme said he’s tried contacting officials in Texas about Jacobs, but calls were not returned.

Jacobs is also wanted in South Carolina for hit and run and “a crime against person” in Arkansas.

On Sept. 22, Jacobs choked and beat his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend when she went to his home to retrieve her possessions.

A deputy noted in his report that the girl had marks on her neck, bruises on the chest, a large bruise on her ear, bruises forming on both arms and a shoe print on her thigh from being stomped on.

A 33-year-old woman went to Jacobs’ home to confront him about assaulting the girl, and he attacked her too. She said he kicked her in the face while she was on the ground. When deputies arrived, she was bleeding from her nose, one eye was swollen shut, she had a large knot on her head and her lips were bleeding and swollen. The woman spit out a small piece of a tooth while an EMT was checking her. She had a friend take her to the hospital.

The deputy arrested Jacobs, but he tried to get away after a handcuff was placed on one of his wrists. As the deputy held the handcuffs, Jacobs swung him around in a yard full of junk and mud around an open septic tank.

The deputies and Jacobs were covered in mud.
