Try to keep this talented surgeon

Every now and then, a physician has the opportunity to change roles and become a patient. A few months ago it was my turn and I put on the patient gown (opening in the back) after a fall in which I badly broke my ankle. When this happened, I had no hesitation in turning to my local hospital, Whidbey General, and their new surgeon, Dr. Matthew Marquart, for my necessary surgery.

When this happened, I had no hesitation in turning to my local hospital, Whidbey General, and their new surgeon, Dr. Matthew Marquart, for my necessary surgery.

Now three months later, with a titanium plate and six screws in my ankle, I feel as good as new. I credit Whidbey General and the skill of Dr. Marquart for a fantastic recovery that exceeded my expectations in every way. We are very lucky to be able to attract such talented surgeons to Whidbey Island, and as a community, we should do everything we can to retain them.
