An Oak Harbor man escaped serious injury in a single-car rollover accident off NE Goldie Road Wednesday.

According to Oak Harbor Police Officer Serloyd Carter, Matthew Raimondi was northbound in a 1972 Ford F-150 pickup truck at about 2 p.m. when the accident occurred.

Although the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, the truck was at the intersection of NE Halyard Lane when something happened and it flipped onto its side. Raimondi was the sole occupant in the vehicle and appeared unharmed.

“I’m thinking he probably wasn’t going very fast,” said Carter, referring to a lack of evidence, such as skid marks, on the roadway.

Raimondi, who Carter said was on his way back to work at the time of the crash, declined to go into details but said the accident was the result of a “mechanical” problem.

His truck was picked up by a friend’s forklift and removed. Raimondi was also cited for “wheels off the roadway.”
