In response to Keith Becker’s letter July 24, “Major highway tragedy within 5 years,” well I believe it will happen sooner and it will stop all traffic on Whidbey Island. But I do have the solution and have said it before. Build a bridge connecting Whidbey and Camano islands. Paying for the bridge would be easy, with little to no cost to the tax payer as it would be a toll bridge and would be payed off in just a few years.
A lot of the traffic that does come on the island is heading to the central and south end and building the bridge would alleviate allot of the congestion felt at both the north and south Whidbey areas and most importantly would end the gridlock.
