Coupeville’s Tyler King captured the state championship in the 1,600 at the 1A meet at Eastern Washington University today, May 28.
King took the title with time of 4:24.54, nipping Lakeside’s Colton Berry (4:24.92) and King’s Hap Emmons (4:25.52).
Later today he will run a preliminary heat of the 800 and the 4×400 relay with Chase Bates, Will Hoskins and Mitch Pelroy.
Should he qualify, King will run in the finals of the 800 and 4×400 tomorrow. He will also run in the 3,200 finals.
Teammate Hunter Hammer will compete in the shot put finals tomorrow.
