Some delays are coming soon for motorists driving through the heart of Coupeville.

A number of road construction projects are scheduled to take place in the early part of October depending on weather conditions.

Coupeville Mayor Nancy Conard said road work is scheduled to begin sometime in early October and wrap up several weeks later.

Three roads in Coupeville will be re-paved in the coming days: North Main Street from Highway 20 to Third Street, Coveland from North Main Street to Broadway, and Seventh Street from Main Street to Coveland.

During the road construction projects, motorists will have to deal with single-lane closures.

Workers are putting the finishing touches on a repaving project on Parker Road located at the edge of town limits.

Another group of workers is rebuilding the sidewalks at on Coveland Street the make sure they are compliant with Americans with Disability Act regulations, Conard said.

The town budgeted $504,400 for the repaving projects. Of that amount, 75 percent comes from state and federal grant sources.
