The Town of Coupeville is hopping on the auction bandwagon this weekend and will be selling off some surplus treasures.

Council approved an interlocal agreement with the City of Oak Harbor for auction services as well as a list of surplus items recommended by staff.

Items will go up for auction Saturday during the city’s annual event beginning at 8 a.m. at 1400 16th Ave. in Oak Harbor.

Town Clerk Kelly Beech said this partnership will give the town the best bang for its buck rather than trying to sell surplus items on its own.

Among the list of goods the town will auction off is an upright piano, a 1996 Ford F-250, various office equipment and some real gems.

Staff found a video recorder that takes floppy discs, Beech told council. “Everything on that surplus list has no use to the town.”

Under the interlocal agreement, the town will pay a percentage of advertising and auction costs based on what items sell during the auction.

Other items include: upper and side link 3-point John Deere hitch, aluminum tool box for a truck, five HP Honda engine, banding supplies and tools, an electronic scale, an overhead projector and a Kodak EasyShare C813 with case.
