Timothy Louis Graton

Timothy Louis Graton, ADC, USN (Ret), age 60, of Coupeville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at his home, following a brief illness.

Mr. Graton was born in Solvang, Calif., on Sept. 9, 1953, to John Oliver Graton, Sr. and Margaret Eileen (Summers) Graton.

He was raised in Lompoc and Mariposa, Calif., and graduated from Mariposa High School in 1971. Tim enlisted in the U.S. Navy that same year.

On May 12, 1973, he married Mary Ann Helm in Chula Vista, Calif. Tim and Mary lived in California, Washington, Hawaii and Japan.

He made seven world tours during his Navy career, from Iceland to Africa and Asia, as well as the United States.

After his retirement from the Navy as an E-7, Tim was employed by Boeing as a non-destructive technician, eventually moving to Whidbey Island.

He was a member of the machinists union.

Tim enjoyed model airplanes, fishing, the outdoors, riding his Harley, and, most especially, time with his family.

Tim is survived by his wife Mary at home in Coupeville; his two daughters, Violet Graton of Coupeville and Tina L. Newton of Arlington, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Tatiyana, Alexandira and Timothy Newton; four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Harley, Dakota and Bradyn; two sisters Lynda Vander Karr of Midpine, Calif., and Patricia Franke of Florida; and two brothers, Denny Moore of Arizona and John Graton of California.

A graveside service will take place 10:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Tahoma National Cemetery, with Military Honors by the NAS Whidbey Honor Guard.
