Three swell firefighter ranks

Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue volunteer firefighters Nicholas Eads, Nic Biekert and William Canty graduated Dec. 5 from the Island County Fire Academy’s Recruit Training Program.

Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue volunteer firefighters Nicholas Eads, Nic Biekert and William Canty graduated Dec. 5 from the Island County Fire Academy’s Recruit Training Program.

These firefighters committed two evenings a week along with a number of weekend training sessions over 15 weeks to develop the knowledge and skill necessary for state certification as a Firefighter I.

Eads was recognized with the Island County Fire Academy Captain’s Award as the Recruit Firefighter of the Year for his exceptional performance during training.

Firefighters Eads and Canty will be assigned to Station 51 in Coupeville while firefighter Biekert will volunteer out of Station 53 on Race Road. More information about Central Whidbey Fire and Rescue can be found at www.cwfire.org.
