A Freeland man is accused of threatening to shoot workers at Whidbey Telecom because he was angry after missing an appointment, according to court documents.
Prosecutors charged the man, 61-year-old Graham J. Lau, in Island County Superior Court Jan. 28 with felony harassment.
The report by a deputy with the Island County Sheriff’s Office states that Lau called the company on Dec. 19 and started yelling at the call taker. According to a recording of the call, Lau was upset that he got home late from the hospital and missed an appointment for internet installation, the report states.
Lau was also angry that Whidbey Telecom buried a wire under his driveway, the report states.
Lau threatened to go to the business and kill everyone with a machine gun and “go postal on you guys,” the report states.
The deputy contacted Lau, who claimed he didn’t make the threat because he is a pacifist. He also complained to the deputy about missing his installation appointment.
Lau’s arraignment is schedule for Feb. 18. If convicted of the charge against him, Lau could face up to three months in jail under the standard sentencing range.
