A report of a man threatening to burn down an Oak Harbor home resulted in a very brief armed standoff Sept. 24, according to court documents.

Oak Harbor Police Officer Jason Holland responded to a report of a disorderly man at a SE Pasek Street home. A woman said 47-year-old Ronald Bone threatened to burn down the house and kill her, Holland wrote in his report.

The officer, who was familiar with Bone, arrived at the house and went to Bone’s bedroom. Bone was in a “very agitated state” and said he was “going to do it,” the report states.

Holland noticed that Bone had a black pistol in his hand. Bone brought it to his own head. The officer drew his firearm and held Bone at gunpoint.

The report states that Bone dropped the gun after being ordered to do so. Bone stated the firearm was only a pellet gun, which proved to be the case.

The officer arrested Bone for the alleged threats.

Holland recommended that Bone receive a mental health evaluation.

Prosecutors charged Bone in Island County Superior Court Sept. 29 with harassment — threats to kill. He could face up to a year in jail if convicted.
