Terrence Kenneth “Terry” Rick, 44, a resident of Concrete, died unexpectedly at his home on March 6, 2006.
He was born on June 5, 1961, in Loma Linda, Calif., the son of Robert and Carrie Rick.
Terry grew up on Whidbey Island and in Skagit County, attending the North Puget Adventist Academy in Burlington and graduating from Auburn Adventist Academy in 1980. He attended PUC and Condi College in California. Terry worked as a carpenter for many years and spent his summers commercial fishing in Alaska and sailing the Trilogy in Maui with the Coon family. He spent later years working in Arizona at fitness and health centers, where he developed his interest in body building.
Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilbur and Edith Rick and Ambrose Ralph, and a cousin, Susan Noel. He experienced his most profound loss in 1976 at age 14 when his father, Robert Rick died as a pilot in an airplane accident on Friday Harbor.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Carrie Yates of Sun City West, Ariz.; his two sisters, Lesa Riddle of Phoenix and Beth Carlson of Bellingham; his three amazing, beautiful and gifted children, Mickey Elliott, 22, of Olympia, and Mercedes Wright, 15 and Colby Wright, 13, of Anacortes and numerous extended family throughout the U.S. and Canada. Terry will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Private family inurnment services will be held at the Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes, but Terry’s family hopes that those who knew him wish him the peacefulness that for so long eluded him.
