If you are looking for a fun, clean and convenient place to take your workout — or perhaps you don’t work out but would like to make the positive step in the right direction — then Studio M may be the place for you.
Studio M is a fitness center in Oak Harbor that opened last May. Recently, Studio M received its full stock of new equipment and is now ready to provide a relaxing and productive workout atmosphere. Studio M is named after the previous owner of the center, the new owners are thinking of a more creative and catchy name.
The owners of Studio M are Yvette Dwonch-Pena and Trace Adams. Dwonch-Pena said that she is proud of the new equipment and what Studio M offers to its clients.
“Our equipment is state of the art and is designed to fit the different needs of every customer,†Dwonch-Pena said.
Studio M is geared to meet a wide variety of needs. Those with a particularly hectic schedule may enjoy the convenience of multiple class levels and times. On-site baby sitting is also provided by certified babysitters for a small cost to Studio M members.
In addition to new, high quality fitness equipment, Studio M features a juice bar inside of the fitness center. This is the newest addition to the center, offering healthy snacks, Fidalgo Bay coffee, vitamin enriched smoothies and shakes. This is important to the hungry client on the go because they don’t have to make an extra stop to get something to eat or drink after their workout.
Regular client Pam Ross said that she enjoys her membership at Studio M.
“It’s exercise for life. I always feel safe when I exercise at Studio M and it is really fun. It is an important part of my day,†Ross said.
The goal of Studio M is to provide clients with an environment where they can cross-train to maintain or lose weight. Through their offering of modern and aerobic classes such as kickboxing, core pilates and yoga, Studio M has something for their clients to do every day of the week. The newest class offered at Studio M is a children’s kickboxing class that goes on at 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
Dwonch-Pena said that although many of her clients are women, Studio M is open to everyone. To enhance this idea, Studio M has added a weight room on the second floor of the building that also features treadmills, ecliptical trainers and TV monitors hooked to the wall.
Monika Manson has been a fitness instructor for about a year and now works at Studio M. She has past experience as a gymnastics instructor for people of all ages but thoroughly enjoys her job as a class instructor at Studio M.
“All the instructors started as students at the Navy gym where we all met. We then progressed into becoming certified fitness instructors and friends. This job is great because we all get along, we are really a family here, even our customers. Our customers say that they feel they can really trust and talk to the instructors and that is important to us here at Studio M. I’d come here as a member even if I wasn’t an employee,†Manson said.
It is for these reasons that Dwonch-Pena said her military clients choose to stay at Studio M even when they can get free membership at the Navy base gym.
“You will always feel welcome here. Friendliness and professionalism is a top priority for my employees and I,†Dwonch-Pena said.
The cost of the membership is $40 a month with a $75 one-time enrollment fee. If the client joins as part of a couple then the enrollment fee is combined and reduced.
