Storm: Radio storm news lacking

Published 10:00 am Saturday, December 23, 2006

During this last high wind power outage here on Whidbey Island, I turned to our local radio station and have to admit I was very disappointed with their reporting.

Everything I heard was very general information any station would have. No people calling in to ask for or offer help or to say what specific conditions were in their area. No notification of what was open in town or what was or wasn’t available there, it was necessary to go there to find out if you could get batteries or groceries, etc. Yet I was kept abreast of school closures on the Peninsula, in Mukilteo, and Marysville. I think we are very much in need of local specific information at times like these and would hope the radio could be a source of it, I can listen to Bill O’Reilly anytime.  And that I missed a hot and hearty breakfast at Frank’s Place, that really frosts me.
