Michelle Nichols was charged with one count of vehicular homicide in Island County Superior Court Friday, according to Island County Prosecutor Greg Banks.

Nichols is the survivor of a Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day crash on Highway 525 that killed Tim Keil, a Freeland man. Keil, 61, died at the scene and Nichols was severely injured and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Blood samples taken from Nichols several hours after the crash revealed her blood-alcohol content was .11, which just exceeds the state limit of .08, according to the state patrol.
