A 16-year-old student at Oak Harbor High School was arrested Thursday for streaking through Parker Hall during lunchtime.

Capt. Rick Wallace with the Oak Harbor Police said the boy was wearing a sock on his genitals and a sign on his buttocks that said “censored.”

Principal Dwight Lundstrom witnessed the whole thing. He said the half-naked boy got plenty of applause from the other students.

“It was a bad day to streak,” Lundstrom said. “It was the seniors’ last day, so they all have cameras. There’s plenty of proof.”

Lundstrom stopped the streaker and marched him to the office, where a police officer later arrested the kid on suspicion of indecent exposure. He was immediately released.

Lundstrom said the boy was very cooperative and explained that he did it because he “just thought it would be fun.”

Wallace said the streaking was just a prank, but the officer was obliged to take the incident seriously after school officials reported it.

“I thought streaking went out with the ’70s,” he said.

Lundstrom said administrators will have to figure out what type of discipline is appropriate for a student caught streaking.

“We just need to work through it,” he said. “It’s not a common occurrence.”
