Smoker not fit for sheriff

I note with interest your front page article on Dec. 3 regarding “Sheriff’s race heats up early.” I question the qualifications of one of the candidates who is so clearly addicted to tobacco, particularly in light of Washington passing a referendum banning smoking in public places.

How can Lenny Marlborough be a positive role model for our children when a cigarette hangs from the corner of his mouth as he patrols our streets in a publicly purchased automobile? How can he ask our children to say “no” when he cannot say no himself?
