Based on early election results, it looks like Jim Slowik will be the new mayor of Oak Harbor while Nancy Conard won a fourth term as mayor of Coupeville.

In the first count of mail-in ballots Tuesday night, Slowik was ahead of challenger Paul Brewer by 1,349 to 1,032 votes. That’s 57 percent to 43 percent. Conard was ahead of her challenger, Gordon Burton, by 262 to 142. Conard has 64 percent of the vote while Burton has 35 percent.

In the Oak Harbor City Council races, Jim Palmer, Beth Munns and Rick Almberg have healthy leads over their rivals.

Palmer is ahead of Bob Morrison by 1,372 to 912 votes. Munns leads Chris Hiteshew by 1,556 to 704. Almberg has 1,542 ballots in his favor while Mel Vance has 631.

In the Coupeville Town Council races, Ann Dannhauer and Molly Hughes are doing well, while Bob Clay and Gary Piazzon are neck-and-neck

Dannhauer is ahead of incumbent Bronson by 219 to 173 votes. Hughes is ahead of Roxallanne Medley by 240 to 147 votes.

Bob Clay is leading over Gary Piazzon by 199 to 197.

In the contested race for Oak Harbor School Board, David Sherman has a wide lead over Burnett. Voters cast 2,560 ballots in Sherman’s favor and 1,790 ballots for Burnett.

In the race for a seat on the Whidbey General Hospital Board, Ron Wallin is leading Bert Speir by a vote of 4,852 to 3,487.

Incumbent Benye Weber is ahead of her challenger, Dennis Parbs, for her seat on the Port of Coupeville. Voters cast 974 ballots in Weber’s favor while Parbs has 797 votes.

In early results Tuesday, 32 percent of the 42,323 ballots were counted. The next count will be posted Thursday at 4 p.m.
