Sex offender moves to Oak Harbor

The Island County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the community about a Level 2 sex offender who has moved to a home on W. Henni Road near Oak Harbor. Derion Albright, 54, was convicted of two counts of second-degree child molestation in Lewis County in 1992. The victim was his 12-year-old adopted son, according to the public notification.

The Island County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the community about a Level 2 sex offender who has moved to a home on W. Henni Road near Oak Harbor.

Derion Albright, 54, was convicted of two counts of second-degree child molestation in Lewis County in 1992. The victim was his 12-year-old adopted son, according to the public notification.

Albright was originally granted a Special Sex Offender Sentencing Alternative, which allowed him to forego a prison term in lieu of community-based treatment. But the SSOSA was revoked in 1995 and he was incarcerated in 1996. He completed his incarceration and treatment the same year.

In 2004, Albright was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in Pierce County.

The Island County Sheriff’s Office classified Albright as a Level 2 sex offender, which means he’s considered a “moderate risk to the community,” the public notification states. The risk classification is based on his history and other assessments.

Albright is not under community supervision by the Department of Corrections. He’s described as a white man, 5-foot-10, 250 pounds with brown eyes and gray hair.
