The numerous assignments, book reports and term papers that seniors had to complete throughout the school year left them with a lot of paper.

Seniors at Oak Harbor High School brought armfuls of paper to Parker Hall Thursday for the annual paper toss to close the school year.

Once the school day ended, they tossed their assignments in the air. During the 15-minute celebration, students slid on the papers that covered the floor and threw paper at fellow classmates. Several seniors took time to pose for photos on the mound of papers.

Since they were finished with their classes, they didn’t have to clean up the mess. That honor was bestowed on the junior class.

The paper toss is one of numerous events that celebrate the graduation of the class of 2005. On Friday morning, they attended the Senior Breakfast, Senior Awards Assembly and graduation practice.

Baccalaureate takes place Sunday at the high school gym beginning at 4 p.m. Karen Rohrbach, chaplain for the University of Washington Women’s Basketball team is scheduled to speak.

Oak Harbor High School graduation takes place Monday, June 13, 7 p.m., at the gym. Additional seating is also available in the Field House.

Graduation festivities at Coupeville High School begin next week. The senior class takes their finals on Tuesday and Wednesday. Baccalaureate is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, at 7 p.m. at the San de Fuca Church. Thursday, June 16 is the last day of class for the seniors. On that day, they will attend the senior assembly, partake in the senior parade and enjoy a brunch at Coupeville United Methodist Church.

Graduation for the Coupeville High School Class of 2005 will be Friday, June 17, 6 p.m., at the gym.
