Oak Harbor School District
School begins for students in the Oak Harbor School District Thursday, Sept. 9.
Registration for new and returning students in the Oak Harbor School District begins later this month.
Elementary school registration goes from Aug. 16 through Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Registration at North Whidbey Middle School for all grades goes from Aug. 24 to Aug. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Each grade at Oak Harbor Middle School has a separate registration day.
Eighth graders register Aug. 24, seventh graders register Aug. 25, sixth graders register Aug. 26 and all new students register Aug. 27. Registration on all days goes from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Registration for new seniors at Oak Harbor High School takes place Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Students in the Oak Harbor School District will be released one hour early every Monday throughout the school year. That allows staff to meet and work on educational programs.
The school district will also offer lunch programs and is charging $1.75 for elementary school students and $2 for secondary school students. Lunch includes a meal, milk or juice and a salad. Parents can prepay for lunch and is debited like an ATM at the cashier. Free and reduced lunches are available. For more information call 279-5004.
Football and volleyball practice can begin Aug. 18 while all other fall sports begin Aug. 23.
Coupeville School District
Students in the Coupeville School District begins Tuesday, Sept. 7, with elementary school students attending for a half day.
New student registration is scheduled for:
Grades K-5: Aug. 17-19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 678-4551 for more information.
Grades 6-8: Aug. 24-27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 678-4409, ext. 228 for more information.
Grades 9-12: Aug. 18-20 from 8 a.m., to 2 p.m. Call 678-4409, ext. 226 for more information. Appointments are encouraged for new students attending Coupeville High School.
Parents registering new students should bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate, immunization records and the name and address of student’s previous schools. Transferring high school students should bring copies of their transcripts.
Non-resident students wishing to attend the Coupeville School District must have an approved request for transfer on file. Forms are available from the district office of each school district.
School will begin the year with the same bus stops and times as last year. Flexibility is needed to ensure all students are picked up.
Sign ups for grade 7-12 fall athletic teams take place Aug. 18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the high school gym. High school fall sports practice begins Aug. 23. Middle school football practice also begins Aug. 23 while middle school volleyball practice Aug. 30.

Register for developmental screenings
Any parent with concerns about their child’s development is welcome to participate in a free screening provided by Coupeville School District’s Special Services Department.
A free developmental screening will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 7, and Monday, Nov 22, 2004. Screening are by appointment only.
