In light of the bad economy and the shrinking budgets for our schools, I thought it was strange that the school department thought it was necessary to pay to trim the trees at Broadview Elementary School.

I can’t imagine what that job cost. I also can’t imagine why it was necessary!

In the east they let the trees grow and they get very large and beautiful. In Oak Harbor we have a problem letting trees do their natural thing. I wonder why that is?

While our teachers cry for more pay, which I agree is very necessary, we can all relax and feel content knowing that our hard-earned tax dollars, our much needed school levies, and our fine teachers’ pay increases are being properly spent to keep the trees on the school properties neatly pruned.
