Buckle your chin strap and get ready to enjoy wonderful scenery and delicious pie. Registration for the 7th annual Whidbey Camano Land Trust’s Sea, Trees and Pie Bike Ride is underway.
The summer bike ride is a non-competitive event for riders of all ages and abilities. This year the land trust is offering a hybrid option. Bike riders can join an in-person ride on July 9 or participate in the virtual ride anytime through Sept. 5. Both options still get participants a pie.
Those interested in participating in the in-person, kick-off ride must register by July 1 to reserve a pie, otherwise they will be issued a voucher to collect pie from 3 Sisters Market at another time. The final deadline to register for the kick-off ride is July 7.
Riders may choose from 5, 10 or 20-mile loop routes going through beautiful Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve, past dozens of properties permanently protected by the land trust.. The 5-mile loop has fairly level terrain and is designed for both beginning and young bike riders. The start and finish line for all routes is at the Fort Casey State Park birding platform across from Crockett Lake. A Discover Pass is required to park there.
The cost is $25 for a single rider and $40 for families. Children 16 and under are free. All riders must wear helmets. Learn more and register at www.wclt.org/get-involved/bikeride.
