All of us at North Whidbey Caregivers’ Cove would like to thank the Whidbey News-Times for the recent article highlighting our adult day respite service and dispelling rumors that we have closed. The article generated renewed interest in our program and we have been able to restore hours to a laid off employee.

We’d also like to thank the physicians for referring their patients to our service. Physicians are first in line to see the toll caregiving takes on their patients and it’s heartening to know they try to help them keep their loved ones home. This is National Adult Day Services Week. Across the country adult day respite programs are educating the public about the need for caregivers to take a break from the stress and responsibilities of providing care 24/7. If we can keep caregivers rested and healthy it will increase the time they are able to keep their loved one at home.

Lastly, thank you to the City of Oak Harbor, Northwest Regional Council, the Skagit Community Foundation and Norcliffe Foundation in addition to many private donators for believing in this valuable service and our ability to provide it.
