Church allows no excuses
First United Methodist Church will observe “no excuse Sunday” Jan. 30 at both the 8:30 and 10 a.m.services. Come as you are (or wish you were), in your pajamas, fishing clothes, sports attire, etc. Bring your newspaper, coffee or whatever might keep you away. This Sunday there will be no excuse for not attending worship. All are welcome at 1050 SE Ireland St., next to City Hall. Call 675-2441.
Chat about disabilities
The world has made much progress in helping people with disabilities to hold down jobs, and participate in other activities, but is it possible for these disabilities to be totally healed? ‘Jesus through the eyes of Paul’
W.I.T.S. (Whidbey Island Theological Studies) will present its next seminar, “Jesus through the eyes of Paul,” on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 8:45 to noon at the Coupeville Recreation Hall, on NW Coveland St.
There is no charge and light refreshments will be served. The instructor will be Dr. Tom Johnson, former president, dean, and professor of religious studies at George Fox University, as well as a recognized New Testament scholar.
W.I.T.S. is a newly-formed ecumenical group created to assist Whidbey Island churches in providing relevant college-level seminars on Bible and theology, taught by recognized scholars, to residents of Whidbey Island, at little or no cost to participants. Church holds two services
Oak Harbor Lutheran Church will begin holding two Sunday morning worship services, at 8:00 and 10:30, beginning Sunday, Feb. 6. Sunday school classes for all ages will begin at 9:15 each week. Saturday worship remains at 5:30 p.m. and Evening Prayer services are held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Coupeville on Sundays at 6:30 p.m. Contact the church office, 679-1561. Oak Harbor Lutheran is located at 1253 NW Second Ave., across from the OHHS stadium.
Young, married, but not parents
A group for young marrieds, not yet parents, meets the first, third and fifth Monday of the month, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Oak Harbor for the purpose of Christian fellowship and Bible study. For information please call Kirk or Marsha at 360-675-7664.
