Fifth-ranked Cedarcrest stopped the Coupeville High School soccer team 4-0 at Mickey Clark Field Wednesday, April 10.
Coupeville coach Paul Mendes said his club “played better than the first time we faced Cedarcrest.”
The Red Wolves won the conference opener 5-0 March 19.
Mendes said, “We showed more offense and had some good looks at their end in both halves. They are a deep, top-level team, and we kept it close for most of the game.”
The Wolves played without Nathan Lamb, who is out with an ankle injury.
“Our first-year players stepped up their game and are improving steadily,” Mendes said.
Coupeville (0-8, 0-9) challenges Lakewood (6-2, 6-2-2) at home at 6 p.m. Friday, April 12. The Cougars nipped Coupeville 1-0 earlier this spring.
