Commissioners from Whidbey Island Public Hospital District, the municipal corporation that runs Whidbey General Hospital, are holding a special board meeting Nov. 14 at 4:30 p.m. for a legal budget hearing.
In the legal notice, the hospital district notes that “any taxpayer may appear at said hearing at said time and place and be heard against the whole or any part of the proposed budget.”
The “legal budget,” however, is just a bare-bones, one-page explanation of the budget. It is related to the 2012 tax levy funds and the format of the budget is based on county requirements.
The draft of the legal budget shows a total of $82 million in general fund revenues and the same amount in disbursements for 2012.
The board is also scheduled to approve the hospital’s regular levy and the EMS levy for 2012.
In the meantime, hospital officials are continuing to work on the detailed hospital budget.
A hospital official did not return a call for comment.
