Oak Harbor earns tie with Arlington

A pair of goals by Carson McKole and some stellar defense in overtime resulted in the Oak Harbor High School soccer team earning a hard fought 2-2 tie with Arlington in a Saturday home game at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

Oak Harbor (1-9-1) appeared to be headed for its second WesCo North victory of the season, but the Eagles scored a pair of goals in the final six minutes to send the game into overtime.

One of the Arlington goals came on a penalty kick and the other was the result of a corner kick.

Another 4-3 loss for netters

Friday’s WesCo North home tennis match against Marysville-Pilchuck High School was a repeat of how the last few matches have gone for the Wildcats.

Oak Harbor won three of four singles matches and got shutout in doubles, to drop a 4-3 decision to the Tomahawks.

Ryan Evans bet Marysville-Pillchuck’s Kyle Hanks in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, to win second singles, and teammate Jordan Kingma was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Jared Rumsey in the third singles match.

Oak Harbor’s Josh Evans beat Luke Geieseke 6-3, 6-2 to capture the fourth doubles match.

Wolves remain winless on gridiron

Traveling to Sultan for the fourth Cascade Conference football game of the 2008 season Friday night was a bad experience for Coupeville.

The Turks rolled up 30 points in the first half and went on to defeat the Wolves 40-6.

Coupeville’s only score came on a touchdown pass from Jason Bagby to Ian Smith in the fourth quarter.

Bagby was 5-for-18 in passing for 83 yards with one interception.
