Results of athletic contests the past two days cleared up, somewhat, the playoff picture for Oak Harbor and Coupeville high school spring teams.
As of Thursday morning (May 7) here is how the schedule is shaping up:
Baseball
No. 3 Oak Harbor hosts No. 6 Meadowdale at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, in the first game of the eight-team, double elimination tournament.
The winner will meet the winner of No. 2 Shorewood/No. 7 Arlington at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Meridian Park in Shoreline. The losers will play at the home of the higher seed, also at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Coupeville plays Cascade Christian at home at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 9, in a loser-out game.
The winner moves on to the four-team, double elimination portion of the tournament and will meet Nisqually League champion Seattle Christian at Charles Wright Academy at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12.
Softball
Coupeville will travel to the second-place Nisqually League school (most likely Bellevue Christian or Seattle Christian) at 6 p.m. Friday, May 22, in a loser-out game.
Like in baseball, the winner advances to the four-team double elimination portion of the tournament, which will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at Tacoma’s Sprinker Fields.
Oak Harbor did not qualify for the postseason.
Tennis
Olympic League champion Coupeville will meet with Klahowya and Chimacum at the 1A conference tournament Tuesday, May 12, at Port Townsend (time to be determined).
Oak Harbor joins the other Wesco 3A North schools at the divisional tournament at 1 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12 and 13, in Stanwood.
Soccer
Coupeville will play the second-place Nisqually League team (most likely Charles Wright Academy) at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Curtis Junior High in University Place in a loser-out match.
The winner qualifies for the four-team, double-elimination portion of the playoffs and will travel to Olympic League champion Klahowya at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 12.
Oak Harbor can qualify for a play-in game if it defeats host Marysville Getchell tonight (May 7). A win will lift Oak Harbor into a tie with Lynnwood for the final playoff spot. Since the two teams tied in their head-to-head match earlier this season, they will have to playoff at 5 p.m. Friday, May 8, in Lynnwood to determine the district’s No. 8 seed.
The winner will head to the eight-team, double-elimination tournament and go to top-seeded Glacier Peak at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9.
Track
Oak Harbor will host the Wesco 3A North divisional meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, and 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 15.
Coupeville competes at the Olympic League championship meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9.
Golf
The Oak Harbor girls team will play in the Wesco 3A North divisional meet on its home course, Whidbey Golf Club, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12.
The Wildcat boys compete at Everett’s Legion Memorial Course in the divisional championships at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13.
Coupeville has only one golfer, senior Christine Fields.
Fields, who has qualified for the state tournament the past three years, will begin her quest for another state berth when she plays in the Olympic League tournament at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Sequim’s Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course.
