Police in Vermont are investigating whether a male nanny who may have worked in Oak Harbor and Coupeville sexually assaulted the children he once cared for.

Donald Shepherd, 23, was recently charged with molesting a 10-year-old boy in Vermont. The boy’s mother said she hired Shepherd over the Internet as a nanny, the Associated Press reported.

Shepherd advertised his services as a nanny on eNannysource.com and other online sites. He used many aliases on nanny sites, including Douglas Shepherd, Jonathan Shepherd, Jonathan Fields and Parker Wilder, the Associated Press reported.

A Vermont detective said Shepherd apparently worked nanny and summer camp jobs in 19 communities across the country, including Oak Harbor and Coupeville. Police are concerned that there may be more victims.

Detectives on Whidbey weren’t aware of any allegations against Shepherd locally.

Shepherd also could be charged with child pornography when police complete their examination of his computer and other electronic devices, the Associated Press reported.
