Oak Harbor police are actively searching for two alleged car thieves in the area surrounding Kmart and Highway 20.

According to Lt. John Dyer, a green Ford Taurus was stolen this morning around 8 a.m. About an hour later, it was spotted by a patrol officer near Kmart. The vehicle stopped and the two occupants, a heavy set man wearing shorts and a woman with blond hair and a dark jacket, fled the scene.

The man ran east toward S.E. Ely Street and the woman to the west. Anyone with any information is urged to call 911.
