University of Washington has released its dean’s list for autumn quarter. Lily Dodge, Justin Perron, Jenny Stotsenbery and Maureen Wetmore of Greenbank made the list as did Tiffany Gordon and Szymon Steplewski of Greenbank. Oak Harbor residents named to the list are Heather Brister, Jessica Dyer, Susan Eggen, Aziel Epilepsia, Rebecca Harring, Corey Holly, Michael King, Audra Mendelsohn, Kacie Sisel and Cameron Watkins. To qualify for the list, a student must have completed at least 12 graded credits and have a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0.

Columbia College’s home campus in Missouri named Oak Harbor residents Todd Bontrager, Michael Collins, Leandro Dasilva, Thomas Harris, Willie Herron and Michael Thacker to its fall dean’s list.

Leah Turner is a freshman studying history and the classics at Hillsdale College in Michigan. She made the dean’s list for the 2002 fall semester, receiving a 3.4 out of 4.0 GPA. Leah is a 2002 graduate of Coupeville High School. Her proud parents are Kent and Deborah Turner of Greenbank.

Kent L. Davis has been promoted to ensign in the U.S. Navy. He is the son of Lyle and Merry Davis of Coupeville. The 1989 Coupeville High School graduate attended Navy Apprentice School in San Diego following boot camp. His first assignment was on the air craft carrier USS Constellation. During his five-year tour, he was promoted to aviation boatswain mate petty officer third class. He was later promoted to petty officer second class while assigned to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. After a three-year tour he reported aboard the USS Carl Vinson. Shortly after reporting aboard, he was advanced to first class petty officer. In 1998 he was Navy firefighter of the year; in 1999 he was sailor of the year; in 2000 he was named Navy serviceman of the year and the aviation boatswain mate of the year. After Sept. 11, 2001, the Carl Vinson led the first strike against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

During Operation Enduring Freedom, Davis was advanced to chief petty officer. He applied to and was selected for the limited duty officer program. Davis will now go to Pensacola., Fla., for school and then report to the USS George Washington in Norfolk, Va., where he will be the air boss on the carrier.

He and his wife Lori and their children Jaclyn, 10; Jordan, 7; Jenna 3 and Julianne, 1 month, live in Port Angeles.
