PEOPLE & PLACES: Holiday news keeps coming

Dennis and Susan Conzatti received an early Christmas present with the birth of their first great-grandchild, a girl, on Dec. 13. Mother and daughter live in Enumclaw. Over New Year’s, the Conzattis will be making a trip to Phoenix for the wedding of one of their five daughters.

Hugh and Lee Brainard were Thanksgiving Day hosts to 29 members of their family. Clara Larsen came from Minnesota, Golden and Shawn Moore from North Carolina, and Beth Eychaner came from Wyoming to be with family.

PBY Memorial Association has procured a PBY-5A Catalina from Moses Lake. Once the note on the plane has been retired, the plane will be prepared to fly over to Whidbey Island. The next PBY luncheon will be the last Tuesday in January at the CPO Club at 11:30 a.m.

The captain’s hose on the Seaplane Base was the scene for a holiday open house Dec. 1 when Team Whidbey leaders and Oak Harbor council of the Navy League were guests of Capt. and Mrs. Stephen Black with Navy League President Barbara Bailey as co-hostess.

R.R. and Dee Harbour spent Christmas in Coupeville at the home of their son Rob and the rest of the family. They plan to leave for the south for a winter vacation.

Fifteen members of the koffee klatch met at Fairhaven the Dec. 23 with Mac Bailey as Santa Claus. Carols, coffee and goodies along with gifts and Christmas stories made a good afternoon.

Mavis “Chic” Schulle was a Christmas Day guest at the home of the Steve Glovers in Coupeville. On Christmas Eve, the family of Bryan Schulle and the George Marshall family were guests of Mavis, where they celebrated the birthday of Marshall, Chic’s son.

The Bergdoll Trio played at Fairhaven during the Christmas holiday performing carols, old hymns and Tennessee music.
