Christina Hilkey and Suzanne Ashworth were honored in April for their SERVICE TO THE SNO-ISLE LIBRARY SYSTEM. They both work at Coupeville. Hilkey received a gold award and Ashworth  received a bronze. This was in conjunction with the President’s National and Community Service Award Program. They also received a letter from President Obama and a letter from the president of the Sno-Isle Libaray system along with a pin reflecting their award. There are over 777 volunteers in the library system.

 

After an extensive national recruitment process, Sno-Isle Libraries is pleased to welcome KENDRA TRACHTA as their new deputy director. She brings 20 years of library experience, most recently as the assistant director of public services for San Antonio Public Library. For Sno-Isle, Trachta is responsible for directing operations of Sno-Isle’s 21 community libraries and bookmobile services and to work to implement the strategic plan.

 

Students from Whidbey Island have been named to the DEAN’S LIST AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON for Winter Quarter.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must have completed at least 12 graded credits and have a grade point average of at least 3.50 out of 4.0. Students are notified that they have achieved this distinction when they receive their grades for the quarter. They include:

Coupeville: Peter Bernhardt, freshman; Andrew Dwersteg, senior; and Alexis Mietus, freshman.

Greenbank: John Wilcox, junior: Kevin McDonald, freshman.

Oak Harbor: Brian Culbertson, senior; Angela Dunn, junior; Simone Hamilton, freshman; Kira Homola, junior; Robert Michael Hubner, junior; Tanya Husler, junior; Garrett Knoll, freshman; Marian Koontz, sophomore; Roxanne Lamm, senior; Allison McElhiney, sophomore; Brandon Lee Oppenheim, freshman; Katelyn Schneider, freshman; Robert Thomson, senior; and Zachary William, senior.
