Oak Harbor swimmers dual with Lynden

Wildcats finish 4-1 against non-league opponents

If non-league meets are any indication of how the Western Conference North season will go for the Oak Harbor swim team, then the Wildcats are in good shape.

Oak Harbor improved its record against non-WesCo North opponents to 4-1 Thursday afternoon, defeating 3A Lynden 115-46 in dual meet action.

“I was very pleased with how we swam, especially with how early it is in the season,” head coach Erika Miller said.

The Wildcats were helped by six individual wins and victories in all three relays.

Sophomore Evan Wilson took multiple events for the Cats, earning first in the 50 freestyle (28.05) and the 100 backstroke (1:12.6).

Fellow sophomore Cameron Spence added a win in the 100 butterfly (1:10.10), while junior Brian Hall won the 100 freestyle (1:02.06) and Matt Bender finished atop the 500 freestyle (6:22.95). Spencer Livermore won his first career race, taking first in the 200 freestyle (2:36.85).

Oak Harbor was also victorious in the 200 medley relay (2:08.35), 200 free relay (1:59.9) and the 400 free relay (4:53.98).

The Wildcats begin their league schedule Thursday, Dec. 16 at the Forest Park Pool in Everett against Cascade. Their next meet isn’t until Jan. 6 at home against Snohomish.
