Oak Harbor sets elementary school registration

Oak Harbor elementary school registration for the upcoming school year is set to begin in early May.

Oak Harbor elementary school registration for the upcoming school year is set to begin in early May.

For currently enrolled elementary students, the Enrollment Intent Card, with attachments, will be sent home on Monday, May 5 with all students currently enrolled in kindergarten through 4th grades.

If parents or guardians don’t see these forms show up on that date, they should contact their child’s school. The school district is looking for a quick turn around, as parents are supposed to fill out the forms and return them to the school on Tuesday, May 6.

Kindergarten orientation meetings will be held at all elementary schools on Tuesday, May 6 from 7 to 8 p.m. Call your neighborhood school for details.

Registration for all students who will be entering kindergarten in the fall will be held at each elementary school on Thursday, May 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Orientation for Broad View Elementary kindergarteners will take place at the Administrative Services Center, 350 S. Oak Harbor St., Tuesday, May 6, from 7 to 8 p.m. Kindergarten registration will take place in the same location Thursday, May 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration for new students will take place in all elementary schools Aug. 11, 12 and 13, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Students who did not complete a spring registration card can also register at this time.

Once the registration forms have been filled out and returned all parents must call their school on Aug. 11, 12 and 13 between 9 and 11:30 am. and noon to 3 p.m. to confirm their child is registered. Officials caution school placements cannot be guaranteed if families don’t confirm registrations.

If you want your child to attend a district school outside of your attendance area, a Request for Intradistrict Transfer form must be completed and returned to the child’s school before the last day of school in June. Requests are not a guarantee, as they are granted on a prioritized and space available basis. Transportation is not provided for students outside of their “home” school attendance area.

School assignments will be made and parents notified by Aug. 22.
