Oak Harbor preschool owner accused of molesting girls

A man who owns an Oak Harbor daycare with his wife is accused of raping and molesting three young girls, according to court documents.

Coy D. Bozeman Jr, 51, worked with children at All About Kids Preschool on Midway Boulevard but is not accused of harming kids at the facility.

The Island County Sheriff’s Office and the state Department of Children, Youth and Families both report that they’ve received no complaints about the facility since it opened in 2014.

The preschool is still open, according to law enforcement.

Prosecutors charged Bozeman in Island County Superior Court May 8 with two counts of rape of a child in the first degree and two counts of child molestation in the first degree.

The detective’s report on the investigation states that the Bozemans had been helping out family friends by taking care of three girls, ages 7, 8 and 11, at their home on North Whidbey.

The grandparents of the children, however, noticed that the girls were acting strangely and spoke with them.

The girls disclosed that Bozeman had been molesting them in the hot tub, the bathroom and other areas of the home, the report states.

One of the girls described how Bozeman would come into the girls’ bedroom at night and molest her; she said she woke up when he entered the room because he was a heavy breather, the report states. She started sleeping against the wall so he couldn’t get to her.

If convicted of the charges against him, Bozeman could face more than 25 years in prison.
