Oak Harbor man accused of sexting with minor

A U.S. marshal, an FBI agent, a state Department of Corrections officer and a detective with the Oak Harbor police worked together on a case two years ago involving a missing Texas girl.

The girl returned home safe, but an Oak Harbor man is facing a felony charge for allegedly exchanging sexually explicit cell-phone photos with the underage girl.

Prosecutors charged Tommie L. Reese, III, 22, in Island County Superior Court May 2 with communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. He could face from one to three months in jail if convicted of the charge.

In July of 2015, Detective Jim Hoagland was contacted by a special agent with the U.S. Marshals Service and was asked to accompany him, an FBI agent and a Department of Corrections officer as they made contact with Reese at a medical center where he worked. They wanted to speak with him because he used his credit card to buy an i-Pod for the missing 14-year-old girl, according to Hoagland’s report.

Reese didn’t know where the girl was, but allegedly admitted that he exchanged sexually explicit images and videos with the girl when she was 13 to 14 years old, the report states.

He scrolled through his cell phone and showed the agents’ numerous photos of his penis. He admitted that he had sent the images to the girl.

In addition, Reese showed the agents’ nude photographs the girl had sent of herself.

Reese also admitted that he had exchanged sexually explicit videos with the girl but had erased them, the report states.

Hoagland played back the interview with Reese and discovered that it had no audio.

The detective contacted Reese a week later and told him the girl had been located and was safe. Reese agreed to a second taped interview with police.

Hoagland described Reese as “very cooperative.”
